      GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS)

GIS is a relatively new concept and knowledge-based technology with applications limited only to the awareness of the possibilities, Imagination of users, and with the multipurpose and multidisciplinary character. RCE-I has developed the knowledge to design and establish computer- based user application oriented GIS capabilities to assist clients in the following areas:

  • To plan, design, develop, implement, monitor, update and upgrade systems for GIS, applications.
  • To scan, capture, store, analyze and manage large collection of topographic maps, Photographs, plans and engineering drawings etc. in digital form through to the creation of spatial databases.
  • Compilation, digitization, polygonisation, attributisation, geopositioning and structuring of databases and GIS applications.
  • To convert map data from raster to vector, between different formats and the Indian National Standard formats of Survey of India, from one projection to the other and even from one Geodetic Datum to the other.
  • Digital Terrain Modeling in 3-D, spatial analysis and production.
  • Digital Data Generation through Mass Digitization using scanners, doing on-screen digitization and using Semi-automatic digital techniques.
  • Manual digitization, feature-based digitization, attributes data entry, its linkage, editing, validation and cleaning of data.
  • Digital Data Integration, Warping, Edge Matching, Updating and Overlaying Capabilities.
  • To carry out product generation for standard, value-added derivative and specialized Digital Products.
  • Data Base Structuring, Modification and Access capabilities.
  • To maintain purity of data with improved Quality Control Standards.
  • To do shading as part of value addition of mapping products.
  • Modernization of Cadastral and Computerization of land records using digital techniques.
  • Mapping and Ground Surveys for Land use planning for urban area especially for municipalities.
  • Mapping and ground surveys for town surveys, tunnel alignment, canals, pipelines, Power Transmission Lines and for Feasibility Studies for roads, express highways and National Highways and appurtenant structures.
  • Integration and updating with satellite based SPOT, TM, IRS IC Data specially for Urban development.
  • Networking and communication set up.
